Visits to 2 schools!

Darussafaka (pronounced dar-she-fa-kuh) is a school begun in the 1800's

for children who are orphans or who have lost one of their parents.

Each student attends the school on a 100% scholarship.

The school moved to this new campus recently and built new classrooms and dormitories.  There is even a health clinic for the children, all of whom live on campus during the school week or even through the weekend if it is far to their home neighborhood or village.

We then visited the Terraki School in Istanbul.

Students create art and themes for their lockers.

The school has its own art gallery.

Every classroom we visited has Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the modern Turkish state, on the wall.
